the flaek footwear story

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

This is a short summery of the flaek bachelor thesis. For those that don’t know about flaek [I blogged about it on PW Software some time ago], it is the name of a new sneaker created by 2 guys for a school project and the design took the sneaker/blog world by storm.

Because of this, flaek has become super-popular and had all the marketing done for it. Of course, there’s no word as to if [or when] these sneakers will be mass-produced yet, but a guy can hope!

Paul Webb DSGN Journal - Nike Blazer Pentium 1.0 01

A junk artist by the name of Gabriel Dishaw created these size 9 1/2 Intel-themed circuit-board sneakers as a kind of homage to his favorite sneakers.

Of course, you wouldn’t wear these [highly uncomfortable, I imagine].

These weigh about 15 pounds and this project took Gabriel three weeks to complete. More pics?

There are also pictures of a fantastically made carrying case for these on Gabriel’s site.

Converse Wibbstars

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

I love Converse sneakers and their ONE*STAR brand is fantastic. Of course, I already knew about their custom shoes but didn’t look into it much until this morning.

I dub these “Wibbstars” [as one of my nicknames is “Wibby”]. Blue is my favorite color so I had to put that on the inside at least.

This design is based off of the Weapon 86 Hi LTD series of Converse sneakers and cost $99. I think I deserve a present to me from awesome me.

Here is a wallpaper I made of my Converses on a sunny day during the summer. I wore those shoes so much they wore out. Seriously.

I definitely should get a couple pairs so I can switch them on occasion [and so they’ll last longer, lol].
