Paul Webb DSGN Journal - Autumn Library Book Necklaces 01

Females always get the cool stuff. I’m sure the masculine version would be flash drives or something, lol.

Materials [archival innards, antique, + gathered outards] :
/ leather [antique]
/ paper — Strathmore drawing, acid-free, hand torn, + stitched
/ thread + binding tape — linen
/ headband [vintage] — found in London

You can get your own for $325 USD. Whoever said quirky nerdiness was cheap?

Glow In The Dark Promo

Friday, October 30th, 2009

A while ago I blogged about the actual book but now comes this excellent promo to go with it.

The same guy who did the photography also made this video. Needless to say, Nabil got skills. This promo blew my mind.

Wonderful Bookshelves

I found these at the same time so why not blog ‘em together? =)

Paul Webb DSGN Journal - Wonderful Bookshelves 01

This [alphabet-inspired] bookshelf can be customized to the user’s desire and can even function as a chair. Although, I don’t think I’d be very comfortable sitting on an “X”.

The designer, Pieter de Leeuw, recently graduated as an industrial designer and constructed each piece with EPS [Expanded polystyrene] and wear-resistant coating.

Now, this particular tree-inspired bookshelf would look great in a child’s room or library.

This shelf is by Korean designer, Shawn Soh and is constructed of steel. Height, width, and depth are 188 cm, 150 cm, and 20 cm respectively.

It is refreshing to see industrial/product designers thinking outside of the box and it is becoming readily apparent that the best innovation comes not from big companies, but from individuals and small studios. Hmm, I wonder why.
