This [alphabet-inspired] bookshelf can be customized to the user’s desire and can even function as a chair. Although, I don’t think I’d be very comfortable sitting on an “X”.
The designer, Pieter de Leeuw, recently graduated as an industrial designer and constructed each piece with EPS [Expanded polystyrene] and wear-resistant coating.
Now, this particular tree-inspired bookshelf would look great in a child’s room or library.

This shelf is by Korean designer, Shawn Soh and is constructed of steel. Height, width, and depth are 188 cm, 150 cm, and 20 cm respectively.

It is refreshing to see industrial/product designers thinking outside of the box and it is becoming readily apparent that the best innovation comes not from big companies, but from individuals and small studios. Hmm, I wonder why.
